Pond at Wave Hill
Milton Rosa-Ortiz inverts the experience of the sun porch by floating a vibrant blood-red form that suggests a flower in the middle of an overhead pond with crystal-clear ice shards. Light streams through the skylights and windows, while the suspended sculpture evokes the sensation of being underwater. The flower, made up of numerous red beads, appears to be very three-dimensional and desirable.
The futility of perfection is addressed by including a small number of elements that are not quite the right color.
